Tame YouTube With the Help of Video Piggy

YouTube is probably the biggest video sharing website around today. Even a quick visit should convince you of the astounding amount of material that's hosted there. From commercial trailers and professionally produced offerings to those embarrassing wedding videos and clips of cats falling off pianos - its all there.

But have you ever wanted to download some of those videos and watch them on another PC, say your friends laptop that cant convert to the internet? Or even better why not convert and transfer them to your Ipod, PSP or your mobile phone? I know I have, and the first thing I found out is that it's not as simple as it looks, in fact it's downright difficult.

Well, that's where a certain pig comes in handy - Video Piggy to be precise. This cutely names piece of software is actually a very sophisticated program that automates the process of downloading video clips from youTube, as well as a host of other video sharing websites, and converting them to the appropriate format for the device they are being sent to.

The main problem with sites like YouTube is that they store their video clips in FLV format. While its a great format for high speed high quality streaming video, its not widely supported outside of these web sites. That's where Video Piggy can help though. Simply enter the URL of the video into its friendly user interface and click the convert button. This opens up a dialog box where you select a location to save the file, and a file type to save it as. And that's it! No messing about downloading and configuring video codecs, no complex transcoding software to run, no technical buffoonery at all.

Video Piggy supports most of the major media formats like AVI, MPEG, MP4 and so on, so whether you need to save the clip to your mobile phone, PSP or Ipod it should never take more than a single click.
